Councillor Don Stockton wants to know your views

I was initially pleased to report that after years of campaigning, the long awaited parking restrictions on Altrincham Rd had finally been given the green light and would be put in place.

As you are aware new restrictions were indeed put in place in November and some much needed road repairs carried out. However that is where the good news ended.

For several years, speaking on behalf of residents, I have been lobbying the Council to introduce greater measures to restrict and control the parking throughout my Ward and specifically on Altrincham Road in Styal.

I was disappointed to see that Cheshire East Council have decided to implement what seem to be ideas from isolation along Altrincham Road, by placing single yellow lines, maximum 3 hours waiting Mon to Fri with no restriction at night or weekend !

The lines do not take account of displaced parking at all, they should at least extend down to Oak Brow and Oak Brow cottages where displaced parking is now taking place all the time. The new restrictions do not allow for any parking bays outside the nursery and they do not cover weekends. These decisions seem to go against everything suggested and requested by residents in the Consultation and by Styal Parish Council.

I am running a survey to find out how you feel about the new restrictions. Do you think they are adequate? Or are further measures needed? Please click the link to fill in the survey. As your representative, I will continue to campaign on your behalf to ensure that CEC are held accountable for their actions and their responsibilities to the people of Styal.
